Akana Engineering is an engineering company founded in 1990 with entirely private domestic capital in Ankara, and continues on the same path today.

In its early years the company provided engineering and design services mainly to the home appliance and automotive sectors. Over time its manufacturing capabilities and investments grew alongside its engineering team, and today Akana has become a system and sub-system supplier offering the defence industry a complete solution package covering design, manufacturing, assembly, testing, commissioning and integrated logistic support. As of 2020, Akana carries out its operations at its facilities in Başkent OSB, spread across more than twenty thousand square metres and comprising an R&D centre, assembly hall, dedicated assembly and test area, manufacturing plant and administrative offices.

What began as a small engineering team has grown into a large family of white- and blue-collar employees.

Over the years, while successfully completing many projects, Akana has obtained subcontractor and strategic partnership status as well as quality management system approvals from national and international institutions and companies. Besides being a subcontractor to the prime contractors of the Turkish Armed Forces, Akana has also begun supplying sub-systems to the armed forces and defence industry companies of various NATO countries. R&D has always held an important place for Akana: following developments in the relevant national legislation, technopark offices were opened, R&D incentives from TÜBİTAK, KOSGEB and similar bodies were utilised, and ultimately an R&D centre approved by the Ministry of Industry and Technology was established within the company.

For Akana, the priority today is the same as it was on the first day: good engineering. Our mission is to create technological solutions and products born of engineering, while our vision for the future focuses on national and strategic sustainable solution partnerships and international brand recognition in the defence, aviation and space industries.

In 1990, together with a small team, we founded Akana Engineering with the aim of doing ‘good engineering’ and adding value to our country, to the world and to nature. As we pass our thirtieth year, my greatest happiness is that over the years Akana has provided employment to many people, created opportunities for learning and collaboration, and been able to touch their lives.
Over time, like all of us, Akana has both grown and developed. Today, aware of the developments our company, our country and the world have gone through, and of the strategic importance of the defence industry, to which the vast majority of our activities are directed, we continue to shape our present and our vision for the future.
With the wish that this story, which began with just a few people, will keep growing for many years to come…
